Dominica
At 5am Tropical TEST was located near 12.7N, 58.6W, about 260miles or 420km southeast of Dominica. TEST has strengthened and is moving quickly west northwestward at 28mph, with maximum sustained winds near 60mph extending outward to 140 miles north from the center. The system remains on track to move over the southern portion of the island chain today, with the center expected to pass about 130 miles south of Dominica. Reported winds at Canefield have been near 30kmh/ 19mph with gusts to 69kmh/ 43mph. EXPECTED CONDITIONS · Sustained winds to tropical storm force are possible, that is, 74kmh or 46mph particularly across the south and elevated areas, with higher gusts · Rainfall amounts of 60mm to 100mm (2.5in to 4in) in moderate to heavy showers and thunderstorms · Waves up to 4.0m or 13.0ft along the eastern and southern coasts and near 3.0m or 10.0ft along the west coast EXPECTED IMPACTS · Shallow rivers, streams, gutters and ravines can overflow their banks and flood surrounding areas · Landslides and rock falls from overhanging cliffs due to intense rainfall · Dangerous seas will be hazardous for sea-bathers, small-craft operators and people living near to or traversing coastal areas. · Loose objects will become missiles in strong winds and shallow rooted trees can fall The next Bulletin will be issued by the Meteorological Service at 11am.
